Team Ladakh makes UT proud at Khelo India Winter Games 2021.

Leh : Team Ladakh made the union territory proud with their scintillating performances at the 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games held recently at Gulmarg. The Ice Stock Sports team represented by Nusrat Fatima, Deachen Dolker, Farhana Eliyas and Zahida Batool bagged 12 gold and one silver medal in the team game, team target, team long-distance and individual long-distance, in the women’s category. 

Meanwhile, the Ladakhi short track speed skating team qualified for the heats ahead of the semi-final despite making their maiden appearance at the Winter Games. Promising skater Mohammad Saqib from Chushot, who is just 12 years of age, qualified for the finals of the 1,000m race in the senior category where top players from all parts of the country were taking part and secured 5th position. 

The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, along with Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, Executive Councillors and Councillors of the LAHDC Leh, congratulated all the participants on their well-deserved victory and wished them luck for their future endeavours. 

CEC Gyalson also praised the efforts of the coaches and mentors. He said that the players couldn’t have achieved success without their consistent motivation and support.
