Snow clearance work on Sir – Sir La and Singhey – La to commence from tomorrow.

Leh, Feb 12: Clearing of snow on Sir-Sir La (4805 m) and Singhey-La (5000 m) passes which connects villages of Singhey Lalok villages with Leh will commence from tomorrow.
The Chairman/ Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson directed Xen. Special Sub Division Khaltsi, Nissar Hussain to start work on snow clearance with mobilisation of men and machines from tomorrow morning towards Sir-Sir La.
Xen. SSD Khaltsi said that the road was opened this winter from 12th to 13th as well as 25th and 26th January for vehicular movement, but was later closed due to heavy snowfall. He assured that required men and machines of the PWD, Special Sub Division Khaltsi will move towards Sir-Sir la early in the morning starting tomorrow.
It is to mention that the same road was also connected to Zanskar region with a bridge over the Zanskar river in the month of July last year reducing the distance of about 160 km from Zanskar to Leh.
