Administrative Setup
Politically, the district is governed by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council having a strength of 30 Councillors (26 elected and 04 nominated) which is being headed by the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (rank of State Cabinet Minister) who is assisted by four Executive Councillor since 1995 working within the framework of the constitution of India/Jammu and Kashmir. District has two seats (Leh and Nubra) in J&K Assembly and one Member of Parliament who is also the representative of Kargil district.
